Bond 25: On-set explosion injures one crew member and damages stage

An explosion on the set of Bond 25 has left one person injured.

The official @007 account, which regularly publishes updates about the upcoming film, shared the news on Tuesday, explaining that a stage had also been damaged during the “controlled” blast.

“During the filming of a controlled explosion on the set of Bond 25 today at Pinewood Studios, damage was caused to the exterior of the 007 Stage,” the update reads.

“There were no injuries on set, however one crew member outside the stage has sustained a minor injury.”

The news comes less than two weeks after it was revealed that Daniel Craig would have to undergo “minor ankle surgery” for an injury sustained while filming the spy film in Jamaica.

“Production will continue whilst Craig is rehabilitating for two weeks post-surgery,” reads the update dated 22 May.

“The film remains on track for the same release date in April 2020.”

Bond 25 is expected to be Craig’s final outing as the suave spy.

Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux and Naomie Harris are returning respectively as M, Q, Madeleine Swann and Miss Moneypenny.

Rami Malek, meanwhile, will make his 007 debut as the main antagonist.
