Bon Iver postpone October SSE Hydro date until next year amid travel uncertainty

Indie folk band Bon Iver have postponed their October 25 gig at Glasgow's SSE Hydro until next year due to the uncertainty over international travel.

Despite the country's hope to lift many of the current restrictions by August 9, it appears confusion over travel is having an impact on the confidence of bands and artists travelling here.

Bon Iver will now play Glasgow on October 20 next year.

Justin Vernon and his band put out a statement revealing they were no longer able to perform this year.

They said: "After careful consideration of the fluid situation of the pandemic, we have decided to reschedule our fall 2021 European tour dates for October and November 2022.

"The ongoing uncertainty around international travel and restrictions make any kind of international touring impossible."

"Unfortunately, we are unable to include a rescheduled Cologne date at this time and our dear friend @aarondessner ’s Big 37d03d Machine is not able to join us for the rescheduled dates.

"For London purchasers, tickets for 11/1/21 are now valid for 10/25/22; tickets for 11/2/21 are now valid for 10/26/22."

"We want ALL of our fans across the world to be healthy and safe when we play for them; together, we can keep moving in the right direction and be together again soon!

"All previously purchased tickets are valid for the new date. Please contact your point of purchase for any additional ticketing questions.

Tickets purchased for the previous dates remain valid for next year, while fans can contact their point of purchase for refund queries and further information."

Gig promoter Regular music confirmed: "Unfortunately due to the ongoing uncertainty over international travel @boniver at @TheSSEHydro has been rescheduled for Thurs 20 October 2022 (from 25/10/21). Original tickets remain valid and refunds are available for those who require one."

Glasgow's Summer Nights at the Bandstand, Edinburgh's Tattoo and Belladrum Tartan Heart festival also revealed they'd need to reschedule in recent months.
