Bomber Daniher chooses Lions for AFL move

Key Essendon forward Joe Daniher has selected the Brisbane Lions as his new AFL club of choice.

For the second year in a row, the injury-plagued big man will request a move away from the Bombers.

Daniher was set on joining Sydney last off-season, but the Bombers and Swans couldn't agree on a suitable trade.

The 26-year-old is a restricted free agent this year so Essendon could match any deal the Lions offer.

Daniher has been restricted to 15 games across the last three seasons after battling a range of injury problems.

In his last injury-free campaign in 2017, Daniher kicked 65 goals, was named All-Australian and won Essendon's best-and-fairest as the Bombers made an elimination final.

He will be hoping Brisbane's medical team can help him overcome his injury issues, as they have done for Lincoln McCarthy and Grant Birchall.

The son of former Essendon player Anthony Daniher has kicked 191 goals in 108 games for the Bombers since debuting in 2013.

Daniher is the second Bomber in as many days to request a trade with dashing defender Adam Saad determined on moving to fierce rivals Carlton.
