Notting Hill pub the Princess Royal is to host hit Indian restaurant Bombay Bustle in June, as Samyukta Nair brings her Mumbai-inspired street food to a boozer for the first time.
For the first week of June, the Cubitt House pub will switch to the “Bombay Royal” menu, bringing bar snacks and larger dishes to have alongside pints of Cobra and Indian-style margaritas.
Upcoming are smaller dishes such as prawn koliwada, onion bhajis, lamb samosas and chicken lollipops with ginger and tamarind sauce, while curries will be available for lunch and dinner.
Bombay Bustle’s butter chicken will be the star and palak paneer will serve vegetarians. Both will be served with parathas, til ka aloo – a spiced potato dish – and basmati rice.
“Britain’s love affair with Indian food is a story of cultural connection, migration, and generations of South Asian families who brought their recipes to London,” Nair said.
“I can’t wait to take a taste of home to Notting Hill, one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city.”
Bombay Bustle head chef Surender Mohan will be in charge of the cooking for the collaboration, though Ben Tish, executive chef for the Cubitt House group, has also worked on the menu.
Tish said: “It has been such an honour to watch Surender at work in the Bombay Bustle kitchen, working together on this menu has opened my eyes to a whole new way of cooking”.
The Bombay Royal residency will run between June 2-7 at 47 Hereford Road, W2 5AH, cubitthouse.co.uk
