According to officials, the emails were sent to the official ID of the Assembly Secretariat as well as to Speaker Vijender Gupta. Both messages, written in Hindi and carrying identical content, warned that the Vidhan Sabha would be “blown up within three hours using 15 cyanide gas-filled RDX bombs.” The sender also made a disturbing demand, stating that only Muslim employees should be evacuated from the premises.
Political References in Threat Message
The threatening emails also contained references to political developments in Tamil Nadu ahead of its upcoming assembly elections. The message mentioned actor-politician S. V. Shekhar and alleged his association with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, claiming he was sent as a “BJP Brahmin agent.”
The email included inflammatory and controversial statements about caste and political affiliations, further intensifying concerns about the motive and intent behind the threat.
Recent Security Breach Raises Alarm
The bomb threat comes shortly after a dramatic security lapse at the Assembly complex. Last week, a man identified as Sarabjit Singh drove through the gates of the high-security zone in a Tata Sierra SUV.
The individual reportedly entered through a VIP gate, approached the Speaker’s vehicle, placed a bouquet on it, and left the premises. He was later apprehended by authorities.
Mental Health Angle in Breach Case
Investigations revealed that the accused had been attempting to meet a government official regarding a personal issue. Family members claimed he was under distress and not on medication at the time of the incident.
Authorities later confirmed that Singh has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, a psychiatric illness characterized by extreme mood swings. He is currently in police custody and undergoing treatment at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
Heightened Security and Investigation
Following the threat emails, security has been significantly tightened around the Delhi Assembly complex. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the source of the emails and assessing their credibility.
Officials have not ruled out the possibility of the threats being a hoax but are treating the situation with utmost seriousness given the recent breach and the sensitive nature of the claims.
