Bomb squad swoop on Scots care home after 'suspicious package' found inside building

Bomb squad teams have stormed a Fife care home after a 'suspicious package' was found inside.

Police swooped on Ostlers House Care Home in Kirkcaldy after the alarm was raised this afternoon.

Emergency services remain on the scene, including ambulance crews.

Officers have now sealed off the area as 'a precaution'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are in attendance at Ostlers House Care Home in Kirkcaldy following a report of a suspicious package.

"A cordon has been put in place as a precaution.

"Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are in attendance to check the item."

It was confirmed that the item posed no threat to the public and was removed from the building
