Bomb squad race to Glasgow street as homes evacuated amid ongoing incident

A Glasgow street has been locked down following reports of an "unexploded bomb" discovered in the area.

Emergency services raced to Househillmuir Road in Pollok after the alarm was raised shortly after lunchtime on Sunday.

The street between number 386 and the junction with Dunside Drive has been cordoned off by officers following a report of the possible "ordnance item" being found.

Several properties have been evacuated and locals have been urged to avoid the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team are at the scene assessing the item.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Househillmuir Road, between number 386 and the junction with Dunside Drive, in the Pollok area of Glasgow is currently closed following a report of a possible ordnance item being found.

"Officers are at the scene and a cordon has been put in place.

"Several properties have been evacuated as a precaution and people are asked to avoid the area.

"An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is attending to assess the item."
