Bomb squad on Clydebank street after explosive device found within shed

An explosive device has been found at a property in Clydebank .

The 'suspicious item' was found in a shed on Beeches Road at around midday.

An evacuation of nearby properties was sparked and 100m was put up by emergency services .

Officers are currently dealing with the incident.

Royal Navy Bomb disposal unit are at the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said on Twitter: "We received a report of ordnance found in a shed on Beeches Road around 11.55am today.

"A 100m cordon has been put in place.

"People have been evacuated from nearby houses and we are asking people to stay away from the area.

"EOD will attend to check the item".
