Bomb squads arrived in a Renfrew neighbourhood yesterday to tackle the discovery of ordnance.
Residents nearby had to be evacuated following the find.
Police went about knocking on the doors of properties on Bell Street telling those within that they needed to leave for a couple of hours following the discovery.
The item was assessed and was found to be “not viable” said police.
The Paisley Daily Express understands that the ordnance was discovered in a garage next to the Renfrew Town Sea Scouts building.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Muir Street, Renfrew around 12.35pm on Wednesday, April 26 after an item was discovered.
"Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended and confirmed the item was not viable.
"There was no risk to the wider community."
