Bomb squad carry out controlled explosion after suspicious items found in Glasgow home

A man has been arrested after suspicious items were discovered in a Glasgow property late last night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Liddesdale Square in  Glasgow North where the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit safely removed the items before carrying out a controlled explosion.

The area was cordoned off by Police Scotland as a precaution. Officers remain at the scene.

A 42-year-old man has now been arrested. No one is thought to have been injured in the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland carried out a search at an address in Liddesdale Square, Glasgow, on Wednesday night, 10 June, as part of an ongoing enquiry. Officers found items which required EOD assessment and the area was cordoned off as a precaution.

"EOD attended and the items were safely removed before a controlled explosion was carried out. A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection. Officers remain in attendance at the property."
