A large cordon was put in place with residents asked to stay away while specialists were called to the scene to examine the item.

Pictures given to the Daily Record show police officers standing in the doorway of a property while the Army’s bomb disposal truck parked outside.

Police Scotland has confirmed that the device has been removed and the cordon lifted.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to attend Clepington Road in Dundee around 11 am on Monday, 25 October, 2021 after the discovery of a potential unexploded historical ordnance device.

“A cordon was established and specialists contacted to attend and assess the item.

"EOD attended and took the item, which was not believed to be a bomb, away.

"The incident has now been stood down."
