Police were called to a beach north of Muirfield Golf Course, Gullane (Police Scotland)

When they got there, bomb disposal confirmed the bomb was an inert 2" mortar round - commonly used in WW2 to practice live firing.

The bomb was then safely disposed of by the team.

At no time during the incident were any members of the public at risk.
