Bomb squad called out to house and two men arrested

Two men from Liverpool were arrested after the bomb squad was deployed to a house in Warrington.

Cheshire Police's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was sent to a house in Savannah Place in the Chapelford area of the town at around 12.45pm yesterday (Monday.)

Specialist EOD officers recovered a "substance" from the house which is now being assessed.

A number of cannabis plants were also seized in the house.

Two men from Liverpool, aged 26 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled Class B Drug (cannabis). Both have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A police spokesman said to the ECHO : "At 12.45pm on 29 March officers from Warrington LPU carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Savannah Place, Warrington.

"A number of cannabis plants were seized along with a substance which was assessed by EOD and seized as part of the investigation by police.

"Two men from Liverpool aged 26 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled Class B Drug (cannabis).

"Both have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"We want to reassure residents that at no point were residents or members of the public at risk."
