Bomb squad called after explosion at Adelaide house

Police investigate the explosion at the house on Morningside Drive.

Police are evacuating residents and the media from around an Adelaide house where a man suffered serious burns in an explosion.

A 52-year-old man was injured at a house at Woodcroft, in Adelaide's southern suburbs early this morning.

The bomb squad has been called to investigate the blast, which could be the result of an exploding gas bottle.

The Country Fire Service is on the scene and police are doorknocking the area to get people to leave.

Police said crews were called to the home on Morningside Drive about 4:20am.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a small explosion occurred in one room of the house.

Officers remain at the scene and police are expected to provide more details later.
