Police have said that an improvised explosive device left in the garden of a home was a targeted attack linked to serious and organised crime.
Police were called out to a house on Birtles Road in the Orford area of Warrington at around 2.15pm on April 15.
The area was cordoned off and an explosive ordinance disposal team was sent to the scene. The team later carried out a controlled explosion on the device.
Since then an investigation has been ongoing to establish the circumstances and officers will be conducting house-to-house enquiries this weekend.
Locals at the scene said the device was left in a front garden.
Detective Inspector Julie Jackson, from Warrington Local Policing Unit, said to the ECHO : “Since the improvised device was located we have been following a number of enquiries.
“The device was a targeted attack and we believe it to be connected to serious and organised crime.
“I am appealing to those who may have information surrounding the device and how it came to be placed in the garden to come forward.
“If you do not feel comfortable speaking to police directly, I would encourage you to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
