Bomb disposal squad race to Glasgow park after 'possible ordnance' spotted in river

Police had to call in support from the bomb squad after the discovery of a 'possible ordnance' device in the River Kelvin within Kelvingrove Park in the west end of the city.

Officers were alerted to the river near the Kelvin Way after a member of the public spotted the item around 2:45pm yesterday (July 28) - at a time when the park is usually busy with locals, families and visitors.

Bomb disposal experts from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team then attended and removed the item from the river.
