Xavier Amaechi may well have suffered a crack in his foot, Ian Evatt has confirmed, but Bolton Wanderers will be sending the loanee winger to a specialist on Monday to gain a better idea of the injury he has picked up.
The 20-year-old limped out of Bolton's pre-season friendly victory over Preston North End in midweek after some 20 minutes.
He was later spotted on crutches and wearing a protective boot, with Evatt saying after the victory at the County Ground in Leyland that Amaechi may have suffered a broken metatarsal.

The Hamburg loanee - who is due to be at Wanderers for six months - has had a scan and Bolton were waiting to hear a consultant's thoughts on the injury.
The scan has revealed a potential crack in his foot, but Wanderers will be sending the winger to a specialist early next week to get a better idea of the injury.
And it could have an impact on the club's future transfer window plans if Amaechi is ruled out for a sustained period of time - but Evatt said Wanderers have plans ready to put into action if that is the case, though will be hoping for good news on the winger's condition.
He said: “It looks like there is a crack there but we’re not 100 per cent sure.
"He’s going down to London to see a specialist on Monday and we’ll have a clearer idea of the prognosis and how long that’s going to be.
“We’ll have that final answer and we’ll decide what we’re going to do. Things change day to day at the moment so we’re still on with other stuff, of course, and making potential lists.
"We have potential lists ready to go, so we’re just going to buy a bit of time really over the weekend.
"We’ve got the open day which will be fantastic and then we’ll have a clearer idea of Xav on Monday, but fingers crossed and we hope for the best.”
