Bolton Wanderers winger Xavier Amaechi gives update after undergoing surgery on fractured metatarsal

Bolton Wanderers winger Xavier Amaechi has revealed that an operation on a fractured metatarsal has been a success.

The 20-year-old picked up the injury in the pre-season friendly victory for Wanderers last week against Championship side Preston North End.

He was taken off after around 20 minutes and was later seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

Scans subsequently took place, as well as meetings with a consultant and a specialist to ascertain the diagnosis and severity of the injury.

It was confirmed that the Hamburg loanee had suffered a fractured metatarsal and was due to undergo surgery and have repair work done.

Now, Amaechi has taken to Instagram to reveal that the operation was a success.

He posted: "Successful operation. Grateful to God."

Amaechi joined Wanderers on loan this summer from German side Hamburg, with the deal poised to run until January 2022 and had featured throughout the club's pre-season schedule up until picking up the injury.

Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has admitted that the injury picked up by the winger could influence his next move in the transfer market.
