Bolton Wanderers predicted team vs Charlton Athletic as Ian Evatt faces Owen Beck decision

Bolton Wanderers could hand a debut to summer signing Owen Beck tomorrow against Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old became Bolton's fifth acquisition of the transfer window yesterday as he joined from the Premier League side on loan for the campaign. He had been on loan at Portuguese side Famalicao, but that was cut short so he could join Bolton.

He follows Eoin Toal and Jack Iredale joining on permanent deals from Derry City and Cambridge United this summer. Defender and Beck's team-mate Conor Bradley has joined from Liverpool, while goalkeeper James Trafford has been signed up again from Manchester City.

The left-back has played twice for Premier League side Liverpool's first team, both of which came last season. He will now spend the campaign at Wanderers and seek to pick up more experience of men's football.

Ian Evatt is looking forward to seeing how Beck gets on at Wanderers. He believes the Anfield prospect will not need much coaching to be brought up to speed at Bolton owing to his tutelage at Liverpool.

Evatt said: “If they fit culturally, they come into our salary bracket, and we think we’re going to have to spend limited time coaching them and bringing them up to speed then we’ll do because we think they’ll improve us. Liverpool the way they coach their players, they’re used to doing the things that we want to do, so great, let’s see how he (Beck) gets on.”

James Trafford is likely to return as goalkeeper in place of Joel Dixon. Despite a promising debut against Crewe, Eoin Toal is expected to make way in the heart of defence for captain Ricardo Santos and have Gethin Jones and George Johnston alongside him.

Conor Bradley is anticipated to start at right-back. With Declan John injured, Wanderers face a decision of whether to start Jack Iredale or whether to hand Liverpool loanee Beck his debut from the beginning.

In central midfield, Aaron Morley could come back into the team having been an unused substitute against Crewe and be partnered in the middle by MJ Williams, Kyle Dempsey, George Thomason or perhaps even Josh Sheehan. Kieran Lee could start in the number 10 role.

Upfront, Dion Charles could be partnered by Dapo Afolayan. With Jon Dadi Bodvarsson still injured, Amadou Bakayoko and Elias Kachunga are alternatives.

Bolton Wanderers predicted starting team vs Charlton Athletic: Trafford; Jones, Santos, Johnston; Bradley, Morley, Williams, Iredale; Lee; Afolayan, Charles.
