Bolton Wanderers players to be hauled to training ground on Sunday in aftermath of heavy Port Vale defeat

Bolton Wanderers' players will be heading into the training ground tomorrow to analyse the heavy home defeat to Port Vale, Ian Evatt has confirmed.

Wanderers suffered their heaviest ever loss at their present home with a 6-3 defeat at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The Trotters went behind early on thanks to goals from Manny Oyeleke and Leon Legge, before Gethin Jones halved the deficit shortly after.

Tom Conlon added a third from the penalty spot before the break and Cristian Montano scored Vale's fourth a minute after the restart.

David Worrall added the Valiants' fifth and Nathan Smith headed home their sixth just after the hour mark.

Eoin Doyle fired in his seventh goal of the season afterwards while Lloyd Isgrove scored Bolton's third as full-time approached.

And Evatt confirmed after the game that he and his players will be at the club's Lostock training ground at 9am on Sunday to 'sift through the debris' of the heavy loss.

He said: "I t’s hard because I’m so angry and emotional right now that I could end up saying things that I might regret in the future so I’ve told them I’ll see them in the morning at 9 o’clock at Lostock.

"If they’re going to spoil everyone’s Sunday, we’ll spoil theirs as well and ours and make sure we sift through the debris and make sure they understand that that in a Bolton Wanderers shirt is not acceptable.

"We cannot accept that and you can say all you want with the changes we made and the lads came on and did well, but anyone can play well at 6-1 down - there's no pressure.

"But genuinely it could have been 15 all and I have never witnessed a game like it, not just in my managerial career but in my entire football career, I have never seen a game as open as that."
