Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Carlisle United - Aaron Morley good in pre-season loss

James Trafford - 6

Manchester City loanee did not have a great deal of saves to make but ended up picking the ball out of his net three times. Nearly claimed third goal after defensive mix-up.

Will Aimson - 6

Played on the right of the back three and was not tight enough to Ben Barclay for Carlisle's second goal. Otherwise fairly solid performance.

Ricardo Santos - 5.5

Skipper was uncharacteristically sloppy at times with possession and gave short pass for Dempsey as Carlisle opened the lead. Mix-up with Bradley for Carlisle's third goal too.

Jack Iredale - 6.5

Started against old club on the left hand side of the back three. Got forward more in the second half before being subbed.

Conor Bradley - 6.5

Bright going forward in the first half from the Liverpool loanee and at times after the break. Moment to forget with clearance which hit Santos for third Carlisle goal.

Aaron Morley - 8

Played the holding midfield role and was probably Bolton's best player on the park. Tucked home penalty in second half very well.

George Thomason - 7

Energetic in the middle of the park from the youngster, who pressed well throughout his time on the pitch and looked to get things moving in generally positive pre-season so far.

Kyle Dempsey - 7

Former Cumbrians midfielder won penalty after the break and looked good overall against former side, but was sold short by Santos for opening goal.

Declan John - 6.5

Some nice link-up play on the left flank in the first half in particular from former Swansea City man.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 7

Some nice touches from the Iceland international but went down injured at the end of the first half. Continued after the break and had some bright moments before being taken off.

Elias Kachunga - 6

Saw overhead kick saved on the line in best moment from attacker on the day in the second half, and was just short of reaching a couple of first half opportunities. Taken off as one of several second half changes.

Substitutes:

Kieran Lee - 5.5

Saw second half chance claimed but didn't do a great deal otherwise.

Amadou Bakayoko - 6

Returned from slight injury which has kept him out for a week or two. Added some fresh legs to the forward line.

Dion Charles - 6.5

Was typical performance from Northern Ireland international, harrying defenders. Had a goal disallowed towards the end.

MJ Williams - 6

Assumed normal position in front of defence after coming off the bench.

Kieran Sadlier - 6

Went to right wing-back in place of Bradley. Put in a few promising crosses from that flank.

Dapo Afolayan - 5.5

Played in a deeper role behind the strikers after coming on, but not a huge impact made.

George Johnston - 6

Got forward well as normal after coming on towards the end as part of quadruple change
