Not a great deal to do in the first half and was a statue when Winchester's effort went in off the post in a crowded area.
Ricardo Almeida Santos -5
Returned to the starting XI having missed out and looked shaky at times defensively upon his return. Struggled to find the forwards with long balls forward.
Reiss Greenidge - 5
Debutant attempted several passes through midfield and made a great first half challenge to deny Kane Wilson. Booked after the break for a tackle on Ebrima Adams.
Alex Baptiste - 6
Veteran was generally in the right place at the right time to make key blocks and interceptions, but booked in the second half and part of a poor overall defensive peformance.
Gethin Jones - 5
Solid defensive shift from the right wing-back but didn't offer much going forwards either side of half-time. Nearly set up Gordon for an equaliser in stoppage time.
Tom White - 6
A quieter match in the middle of the park after a bright opening two games of the season, got crowded out by Forest Green's midfielders too often and was replaced with 20 minutes left.
Brandon Comley - 5
The more combative of Bolton's midfielders and gave away a few free-kicks which lead to a booking. Failed to make a significant impact and was substituted 10 minutes into the second half.
Liam Gordon - 6
The more attack-minded of Bolton's wing backs and looked to get forward to support attacks wherever possible. Had a late half-chance where he could have equalised.
Antoni Sarcevic - 5
Installed back into the number 10 role, the Wanderers captain drifted along the forward line but didn't make a big impact overall.
Nathan Delfouneso - 6
Held up play and worked hard to try and make things happen for Wanderers but struggled to enjoy any clear cut chances.
Eoin Doyle - 5
Should have hit the target with early chance and generally lacked much service. Had a handball penalty appeal turned down after the break.
Substitutes
Ali Crawford - 7
Played almost alongside Sarcevic to try and get Bolton back into the game when he came on. Denied a fabulous equaliser by Luke McGee and made Wanderers tick more when he came on.
Andrew Tutte - 5
Played at the base of a central midfield three when he came on for his Wanderers debut.
Bright Amoateng - 6
Went on the right hand side of a 4-3-3 when he came on and then switched to the left. Not afraid to track back and help out.
