Bolton Wanderers midfielder Ali Crawford joins League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers on loan

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Ali Crawford has moved to League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old moves to Prenton Park, where he will be reunited with former Bolton boss Keith Hill.

Crawford played under Hill last season at the University of Bolton Stadium.

He was initially released by Bolton last summer, but later signed a two-year deal with the club following the appointment of Ian Evatt.

Crawford has featured regularly for Wanderers this season and has been in the starting XI for much of the campaign.

He has played 24 times for the club in all competitions this season, but has found the back of the net only once.

He has started only once in the last eight matches.

And the acquisition of Marcus Maddison for the rest of the season has allowed Crawford to temporarily move on from the University of Bolton Stadium.

A Bolton statement read: "The club would like to wish Ali well during his time on the Wirral."

He is the third departure today from Bolton, after George Taft's loan move to Scunthorpe United was made permanent and Regan Riley moved to Norwich City.

The Trotters have made four signings on transfer deadline day with the loan acquisitions of Charlton Athletic's Marcus Maddison, Burnley goalkeeper Lukas Jensen and West Ham United forward Oladapo Afolayan.
