Bolton Wanderers loanee Dennis Politic sets Port Vale loan aim after dramatic debut goal

Bolton Wanderers winger Dennis Politic is aiming to prove to Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke that he is ready to play and get more minutes under his belt after a dramatic goal off the bench on his debut.

The Wanderers winger is spending the season out on loan at Vale Park but only made his first team Valiants debut over the weekend against Leyton Orient.

He entered the fray on 87 minutes and scored with practically his first touch in a Vale shirt when he buried David Amoo’s pass in the first-minute of stoppage time to level at 2-2.

That set up a frantic finish in which Jamie Proctor scored the winner from Dave Worrall’s cross two minutes later.

And after getting his first goal on his debut for Vale - which he ranks as potentially the best of his career so far - he is aiming to be in Valiants boss Clarke's plans more frequently moving forwards.

He told StokeOnTrentLive : “That’s the reason I work hard in every training session I do, to try to prove to him that I am ready. I will be looking forward to getting more minutes now.

"I will carry on working hard. I am so grateful that he put me on and I managed to make an impact.

“We are all trying to fight for a spot in the team. But listen, the lads have been unbelievable with me since I have come in.

"Honestly, an unbelievable changing room, a good group of lads and I have been getting on really well with them and the staff and the manager.

“We have a great group and a great spirit in the team that I think the gaffer has tried to implement. You can clearly see it on the pitch. We are fighting for each other, we are giving it our all and that is all that matters.”

On the win over the London side and his goal, he said: “It is unbelievable. I have said it to a few of the lads, it is definitely one of the best moments of my career, if not THE best because of the way we won it as well.

“It’s not just my goal, it’s Proc’s goal to end up winning it, and the celebration with the fans was unreal.

“I came on with a positive attitude, I came on with the belief that we could win it.

“Why not? A chance is all you need and you equalise and go from there. Anything is possible.”
