Bolton Wanderers linked with ex-Everton and Sheffield United defender

Bolton Wanderers have been reportedly linked with free agent Phil Jagielka following his release by Sheffield United.

The 38-year-old has departed Bramall Lane for the second time this summer having spent the last two campaigns back with the Blades.

He came through the ranks at the Yorkshire side and made more than 250 appearances in his first spell with the club between 2000 and 2007.

He moved to Everton in the summer of 2007 and went on to play almost 400 times for the Goodison Park club in more than a decade.

Sale-born Jagielka played 22 games for the Blades in his second spell with the club, before being released this summer.

The former England international is now a free agent this summer and according to reports is attracting the interests of Ian Evatt's side.

According to the Sun's Alan Nixon, talks are due to take place between Wanderers and Jagielka over coming in to the League One club for pre season.

Bolton are well stocked in central defence with Ricardo Almeida Santos, Alex Baptiste, Harry Brockbank, Reiss Greenidge, Will Aimson and George Johnston on the books

But a player of Jagielka's calibre and experience is perhaps unsurprisingly attracting interest from other clubs too, of which Bolton are amongst.
