Bolton Wanderers injury update on Gethin Jones, Declan John and Kieran Lee after Wigan loss

Ian Evatt has given an injury update on injured Bolton Wanderers trio Gethin Jones, Kieran Lee and Declan John following the heavy defeat to Wigan Athletic.

The Latics took the lead in the first half when Will Keane slotted home early on to put Leam Richardson's side ahead at the break.

Wanderers nearly equalised through skipper Antoni Sarcevic just after the break, but Wigan struck back with a fabulous strike from James McClean.

Callum Lang added a third before McClean scored Wigan's fourth to compound Bolton's misery in a 4-0 loss.

After the loss, Bolton boss Evatt gave an update and the trio who missed the clash at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Right-back Jones, who was suspended for the game against the Latics, has suffered a fractured fibula and Wanderers are unsure as to how long he will be out for.

Left-back John has a sore groin and though a scan has shown it is positive, he is still sore.

Lee has a sore glute, which had he played, could have ruled him out for a longer period and so Wanderers opted not to take the risk with the central midfielder.

Captain Antoni Sarcevic is also playing with an ankle injury, while others are carrying knocks, and Evatt did not shy away from the issues facing Wanderers at the moment and the week they have had.

But he has vowed that Wanderers will regroup and strive to be better.

He said: “Gethin Jones has a fractured fibula and we don’t know how long that is going to be yet.

“Declan John hurt his groin on Thursday. The scan is positive but every injury is symptomatic and at the moment he is still sore.

“Kieran Lee has a sore glute. We felt like if we had played him we could have lost him for a significant period so we couldn’t take that risk.

“Antoni Sarcevic is playing with a pretty hefty ankle injury. And there are one or two others who are carrying knocks.

“This weeks hasn’t gone well for a whole host of reasons and it has probably been the worst time for it to happen but we will take the medicine.

"The fans are hurting, so are we, but we’ll regroup, strive to be better, because that is all we can do right now."
