Bolton Wanderers injury news update on Kieran Lee and Declan John ahead of Burton Albion clash

Bolton Wanderers have been boosted by the return of midfielder Kieran Lee after he overcame a groin strain but will be without the services of Declan John against Burton Albion as the left-back came down with an illness.

Lee missed last weekend's defeat on the road for Wanderers against Cambridge United after picking up the slight injury in the build-up.

He also missed the Papa John's Trophy clash against Port Vale in midweek.

But speaking ahead of Monday's clash against the Brewers, Evatt confirmed that Lee is back available for selection after overcoming the problem.

However, former Swansea City left-back John is due to miss the encounter after coming down with an illness, though Evatt stressed it was not Covid-19 related.

He said: "All good. He's trained fine today. He's available for Monday.

"Declan John's got an illness. It's not Covid-related, but he's got an illness and won't be available."

Evatt also gave a positive update surrounding young goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson, woh is currently out on loan at Atherton Collieries.

Hutchinson was stretchered off in the clash between Atherton Collieries and Lancaster City on Monday following a collision with Ben Hudson.

He was taken to hospital but has subsequently been released with painkillers and will sit out action for the next fortnight as per concussion protocols.

But Evatt said the youngster is 'back to normal and fine' now.

He said: “He’s absolutely fine. Obviously he’s got the two-week concussion protocol, but he went to hospital and was discharged with some painkillers. I guess that’s just part of the job and the nature of the beast.

“He’s got to learn to take those knocks. It’s going to come. It happens, and it’s about how he reacts to it, but fortunately for us, he wasn’t too badly injured.

"He was checked over thoroughly at hospital and he’s been discharged with just the two week concussion protocol now, but already he’s back to normal and fine.”
