Bolton Wanderers have 'rough week' ahead of Wigan Athletic clash with injuries picked up

Bolton Wanderers have had a 'rough week' ahead of taking on Wigan Athletic this weekend with it confirmed that Gethin Jones has picked up an ankle injury, Ian Evatt has confirmed.

Wanderers take on the Latics this weekend at the University of Bolton Stadium in a big League One clash.

Ahead of the encounter, Wanderers knew they would be without right-back Jones after the player picked up his fifth booking of the season last time out against Sheffield Wednesday.

But speaking ahead of the clash against the Latics, Evatt confirmed that Jones has picked up an injury affecting his ankle and is due to have an MRI scan today on the problem, but could be out for longer.

He did not confirm the identity of the other players who have picked up problems, but he hopes Wanderers can overcome the issues that have arisen and get the job done against the Latics.

He said: "He has got a bit of a sore ankle, he is having an MRI scan today so we will know more soon. Potentially he could be out longer.

“Gethin is injured as well so it gives someone else an opportunity so they have to step up to the plate.

"That’s what football’s about. That’s what we’ve been speaking about a lot.

"We’ve spoken many times about the lads out of the team and how they have to keep themselves switched on and ready to play because an opportunity can be always around the corner and there will be an opportunity for someone this Saturday and let’s hope that they take it.

“We’ve had a rough week to be honest. We’ve picked up one or two injuries in training, but it’s just one of those things. It’s football and we have to adapt and overcome.”
