Bolton Wanderers defender George Taft is poised sealed a permanent move to fellow League Two side Scunthorpe United.
The 27-year-old joined the Trotters over the summer but found game time hard to come by at the University of Bolton Stadium.
He played only five times for Wanderers this campaign, before being shipped out on loan earlier in the transfer window to the Iron.
The central defender has impressed at Glanford Park, where he has started the last five games for the Iron.
And now, the Iron have opted to make the deal for Taft a permanent one, BBC Radio Humberside reports.
He had been due to be at Scunthorpe for the rest of the season and penned a two-year contract at the UniBol when he joined Ian Evatt’s side over the summer.
Wanderers fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Taft's impending departure from the club.
Though some have expressed some level of disappointment that there may not be a fee for Taft, many understand the moving on of a player who has managed to find regular game time elsewhere.
@MatthewV_ posted: "Don’t understand the meltdown around Taft going - I too thought he was alright but clearly doesn’t fit into what Evatt is trying to build."
Matthew Bottomley posted: "Deserved a chance, as his form a Scunthorpe shows, real shame but wish him all the best, clearly a top defender at this level."
Owen Thomas wrote: "Can’t imagine he would want to come back to us, seems to have settled in there well so far, good luck to him."
@TrottersDan posted: "Taft leaving on a permanent deal? Don’t really care. Didn’t exactly pull up trees when he played. Exact reason why Cambridge were happy to get rid. We move on. Good luck to him."
Paul White posted: "Really poor business and judgement for me. Feel he and Santos as a pairing would have been extremely solid and both can play out from back.
"He played in a back 3 when Baptiste was in middle and Santos on right, once Santos got moved to Centre and played well Taft was dropped."
@BwfcFans posted: "Slightly baffled by the no fee for Taft, given a year left on his contract but wish @ t99fty all the best for the future. Obviously hasn’t worked out for whatever reasons."
Marc Boatwright wrote: "Bit disappointing not to get a fee for a player with a year or so left, but he wasn’t in Evatt's plans and frees up wages; hardly seen him play so no idea if he’s any good; some of our fans reacting like we’ve lost prime Gudni."
@nWray33 posted: "Baffled by the Taft reaction. As if we're getting a fee for someone deemed surplus to requirements / with only 6 months left. It's League 2... Simply didn't work out for him, has even less of a chance now in a back 4 ... and it frees up wages. Move on."
