Bolton Wanderers confirm major Ian Evatt announcement as part of club restructure

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that Ian Evatt is now the club's manager as part of a restructuring of the Trotters football department.

Evatt was appointed in the Wanderers dugout over the summer on a three-year deal after moving to the University of Bolton Stadium from Barrow.

Until now, Evatt has been the club's head coach, but that has now changed with his job title now the manager.

His right-hand man Peter Atherton is now assistant manager.

Bolton Wanderers chairman Sharon Brittan believes Evatt and his backroom team have made 'fantastic progress' since joining the club and explained the reasons behind the job title change.

She said: "Ian and his staff have made fantastic progress since their appointment.

"The title of manager is now reflective of his position at the forefront of the football department."

The announcement follows the departure of Tobias Phoenix from the Trotters, who stood down from his role as head of football operations, it was confirmed last week.

Phoenix joined Wanderers in February and helped restructure the football department during his time at the club.
