Bolton Wanderers slipped to defeat on the road against Sheffield Wednesday.
Wanderers travelled to Hillsborough aiming for three points and three wins on the bounce in League One, with a victory which could have put them into the play-offs.
Bolton carved out opportunites at Hillsborough but were made to pay for a lack of being clinical in front of goal against Wednesday.

And Darren Moore's side proved to score what proved to be the vital goal after the break when Lee Gregory finished from close range to ensure the three points went to the Hillsborough side.
After the game, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt spoke to the press and here's his immediate reaction to the defeat.
It must be a monumental disappointment - chance after chance created but no goals scored?
“It’s very rare for me to be speechless to be honest. We’ve sat quiet for a few minutes in there and I needed time to think because I didn’t know whether to have a go at them or praise them.
“I don’t think we can have a go at them. To come here and dominate the game, the full game, not just a half, and play like that is exceptional.
"We’ve created chance after chance after chance and just not taken it and one shot each half for them ends in a goal and defeat and I’ve said to them, against the better teams in this league, your Sunderlands away, your Sheffield Wednesdays away, that’s all they need, so we have to have and be more ruthless and clinical.
“I’d be pretty upset if we weren’t creating those chances but I think if you ask all their players and their manager yet again how good our team is, then they’ll tell you.”
Are you concerned in any way about the ratio of goals being scored for the opportunities made?
“We have to stay positive and if we weren’t creating these opportunities, we’d be a lot more worried. I feel like whoever we play and I don’t care if it’s Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, home or away, Wigan home or away, we can easily score six.
"That’s not arrogance, that’s based on the clear cut opportunities we’re creating. At the moment we either score four or five or score none and the game looks the same, the chances are the same.”
How do you solve that?
“Just keep being positive and keep believing in our players to take those opportunities. Again, and we spoke about this the other day, that when you’re coming to these places and you’re tasting defeat like that, it almost doesn't feel like a defeat.
"I’m so proud of the way the players played. I’m sure every one of our fans, who were magnificent again today, have enjoyed that.
“Yes, they’ll be frustrations there of course because we haven’t won, and we should be winning the game. But if we keep playing like that, then we will not be far away and yes, we’ve lost a game today and we’ve loaned them the three points, but they have to come to our place next and we have to make sure that we have that ruthlessness and clinical edge.
“Performance levels the same but make sure take our chances.”
Is there not a feeling of, even though it’s a difficult place to come to, a real opportunity missed not to win at Hillsborough?
“Absolutely it’s missed. It was a massive opportunity, especially the way we played. We’ve dominated the whole game. They’re changing formations, they’re changing systems to stop what we’re doing.
"They’re going to three at the back, they’re going to four at the back in the middle of the game because they can’t get near us. Our solutions, our problem solving, our rotations, were fantastic and they just didn’t have the answers.
"On another day, we win the game, four or five one, but we didn’t so we have to take our medicine and make sure we keep striving for improvement on the training pitch.”
