Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt gives fresh update on ex-Sheffield Wednesday man Kieran Lee

Ian Evatt has confirmed that Bolton Wanderers would like to sign the experienced midfielder thought to be former Sheffield Wednesday man Kieran Lee and are in talks to do so but that the acquisition must be doable financially.

It's only a few days away now until the January transfer window opens and the Trotters are poised to be active in the market.

Wanderers boss Evatt has previously mentioned that he feels the Bolton squad is 'three of four' players light.

One of these areas appears to be in central midfield, a gap 32-year-old Lee could fill and has been training with the League Two side recently.

Though Evatt has not mentioned Lee by name, he has acknowledged that the identity is in the public domain and said last week that a decision on his future will be made soon.

Lee has been a free agent since leaving Hillsborough over the summer.

Giving a fresh update on the situation ahead of taking on Morecambe tomorrow evening in League Two, Wanderers manager Evatt believes that finances are now the issue which needs to be discussed to make the signing happen as talks progress.

Evatt also said that one other potential acquisition is 'progressing quite nicely' ahead of the transfer window opening in a few days time.

Other signings are also being forecast when the window opens and players become available.

“Well we’d like to sign him but it has to be financially viable. That’s the issue. We are speaking and we’ll try and work it out and figure it out," said Evatt.

“In terms of other incomings, we’ve got one that’s progressing quite nicely and then there will be others which we will identify as and when they become available when the window opens."
