Bolton town centre cordoned off after man tried to 'grab' woman in the street

Police have closed off a street in Bolton town centre after an unknown man attempted to 'grab' a woman before running from the area.

Detectives are investigating the incident which happened some time before 7am this morning on Churchgate and have cordoned off parts of the road, with police vans parked at both ends.

The woman was not hurt in the incident but has been left shaken up by what happened.

Officers are yet to make any arrests but say they are continuing to investigate.

Police have given no details on when the road might reopen but have provided a description of the man in question.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called shortly before 7am this morning (Friday October 2) to reports of a woman being grabbed by an unknown man on Churchgate in Bolton.

"The woman wasn’t injured but was left understandably shaken.

"The offender made off on foot and is described as a black man of an average height and medium build with short afro hair.

"He is believed to have been wearing white trainers, a black padded Superdry jacket with a red inner hood and a black face mask.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident and no arrests have been made at this stage."
