Bolton Toby Carvery set for refurbishments to historic country house

A Toby Carvery on the outskirts of Bolton has received permission for a major refurbishment to its 18th century property.

The pub chain has been granted planning permission to carry out the work at its Crompton Way pub and restaurant.

The grade II-listed building, formerly known as the Watermillock, was a Gentleman’s Country House designed for Herbert and Thomas Thwaites, the successive heads of bleachers Eden and Thwaites.

The Tudor Gothic style property was designed by JJ Bradshaw and John Gass of Bolton and Manchester in the 1880s.

The refurbishment of the site includes external redecoration, new LED floodlighting and fitting fresh carpets.

There will also be new air conditioning units.

An application was approved by town hall planners on Monday.
