Bolton set to receive almost £23m from government in Rishi Sunak's Budget 2021

Bolton will be receiving almost £23m in funding from the government, says a local MP.

The town centre is set to get a major cash injection from the government's Towns Fund scheme.

The £22.9m boost is intended to revive Bolton's high street and business centre, which has seen decline in recent years.

Bolton North East MP Mark Logan said the financial commitment shows 'the Conservatives are serious about levelling-up'.

The Tory MP shared the news on his Facebook page saying: "Rishi’s £23 MILLION for Bolton.

"That’s right... Bolton gets a major boost today - to the tune of £23 MILLION.

"This will directly revive our town centre.

"The Conservatives are serious about levelling-up.

"2021 is on the up."

The money for Bolton comes as part of more than £1 billion in funding for a total of 45 towns in England through the Towns Fund, revealed in the 2021 budget announced in Parliament today.

The government says the scheme will supporting the long-term economic and social regeneration of the towns chosen, as well as their immediate recovery from the impacts of Covid-19.
