Bolton set for hottest day of 2020 so far with temperatures set to reach 26C

Bolton is set for the hottest day of the year tomorrow as temperatures are expected to soar.

According to forecasters, glorious sunshine could lead to highs of 26C - making the town warmer than Sicily.

The day is expected to start off dry and cloudy before reaching temperatures of 16C by 10am.

The rest of the day will be 'mostly fine and dry with plenty of sunshine', according to the Met Office.

Temperatures are expected to reach their peak in late afternoon, before dipping slightly in the evening.

However, they could remain as high as 13C throughout the night.

The warm weather is expected to last for the rest of the week and into the Bank Holiday weekend, with temperatures of 20C also predicted for Thursday.

Met Office meteorologist Matthew Box told the PA news agency: “It’s going to be very hot for large parts of England for most of the week, reaching highs of 27C (80.6F) on Wednesday, which would make it the hottest day of the year so far.

“This will occur due to large areas of high pressure, combined with southerly winds from the continent, bringing with it, pleasant sunshine, dry skies and warmer air.”
