Bolton's favourite pasty shops are coming back after lockdown and people are getting very excited

Bolton's favourite takeaway snack is returning to the shelves - and people can't wait.

Two of the town's most famous pasty makers are back in the kitchens and preparing to open for business after lockdown.

Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe and Carrs Pasties have fired up the ovens again and have announced the new rules for customers craving a pastry treat.

Carrs Pasties revealed that customers can now order pasties online if you live in certain postcodes - including any BL postcodes and M26, M27, M28, M29, M38 or M46.

The Carrs Pasties vans will deliver frozen pasties for customers to bake at home - dropped at the front door in a safe, contactless way.

But customers will have to be quick, say Carrs.

The company told customers: "You can now order pasties online!

"If you live in a BL postcode or M26, M27, M28, M29, M38 or M46 we can now deliver unbaked frozen pasties to your door on the day you want them (no contact, of course).

"There are limited slots available so you'll need to be quick, but when it's safe to do so we'll expand this service.

"We've missed you!"

The historic Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe - established in 1667 - has also announced a reopening date.

The shop will be operating with a limited number of staff to obey social distancing measures.

The Churchgate shop announced: "Opening June 1st at 9am with a smaller staff due to social distancing.

"Hope to see you all soon! We love our customers!"

Pasty fans have rushed to order already, booking their slots weeks in advance. Social media has been flooded with excited comments.

One Carrs customer said: "Ordered mine today.

"Soonest delivery l could get was the 1st June.

"Looking forward to eating one or two."

Another added: "Got my delivery for tomorrow, so excited!"

Bolton expats are asking if the Carrs delivery service will extend to new locations, requesting deliveries to Liverpool, Morecambe, Wales - even Abu Dhabi!

Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe fans said the new opening date is 'the gossip of Bolton already'.

One Facebook user said: "This is the best news I've had in weeks!"

Another added: "Best pasties ever, love them!"

And other customers are still waiting for their favourite pastry products to return, with some begging for pies to make a comeback.

One social media user said: "Oh no, no pies! Please bring your meat pies to the delivery service. You will make a 76-year-old very happy."
