Bolton residents warned of missed bin collections due to snowy conditions

Residents in Bolton have been warned that some of their bins may not be collected today (New Year's Eve)/

Bin lorries have not been able to reach all of the homes scheduled for today, following very snowy weather overnight.

The snow and icy conditions are expected to remain through most of the day, with Met Office forecasters predicting highs of just 1C across the town.

A spokesman for Bolton council warned residents about the missed collections but offered details of a rearranged pickup time.

In a tweet, they said: "Despite best efforts, bad weather means we've not been able to collect everyone’s bins as scheduled.

"If we’ve missed you, please leave your bin out and we will endeavour to collect by 5pm on Sunday (January 3).

"Weather may change – keep an eye on our website for updates."

Forecasters have not predicted further snow through the night in Bolton, although temperatures will remain low.

Conditions are expected to improve tomorrow, with temperatures rising to around 4C.

There will also be sunny weather in the morning despite patched of cloud throughout the day.
