Bolton player ratings vs Ipswich - Williams & Johnston good as Man City & Liverpool loanees impress

James Trafford - 7.5

The odd nervous moment from the Manchester City loanee in possession and distribution at times off key. But made some great saves after half-time which ultimately preserved a point for Wanderers.

Gethin Jones - 7.5

A steady and solid influence on the right hand side of the back three and performed well overall against Marcus Harness.

Ricardo Santos - 7

Skipper found himself in battle versus Freddie Ladapo throughout the afternoon. Had an up and down game in the middle of defence at times but solid overall.

George Johnston - 8

Made several key interceptions and fairly reliable in possession out from the back. An encouraging showing from the young defender at the start of the campaign.

Conor Bradley - 7.5

Liverpool loanee handed Wanderers competitive debut. Grew into the game and did well to win penalty and made a few key blocks to deny goalscoring opportunities. A threat going forwards.

MJ Williams - 8

Great display in the middle of the park and all over the pitch from the midfielder. Showed fantastic energy to get across the pitch and close down the Ipswich players in possession.

Aaron Morley - 7.5

Tidy display generally from the former Rochdale midfielder and coolly slotted home from the penalty spot to give Wanderers the lead.

Declan John - 7

As is common with the defender, got forward very well to influence attacks, but many Ipswich forays came down his flank. Booked half way through first half.

Kieran Lee - 6.5

Played in the number 10 role and some nice touches and passes at times. Did more defending and tracking back in the second half, before being taken off.

Dapo Afolayan - 6.5

Scored three times in two games vs Tractor Boys last season. Operated alongside Charles at Portman Road and looked creative in early stages, but not too threatening after the break.

Dion Charles - 6

No first half chances of note for the striker who had usual high work rate. Not his day ultimately as was heavily marked by Ipswich rearguard.

Substitutes:

Amadou Bakayoko - 5.5

Went alongside Charles after coming on. Drew foul for yellow card on Luke Woolfenden.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 5

Made return from minor foot injury.

Elias Kachunga - 5.5

Went into the number 10 role after coming on.

George Thomason - 5.5

Went into the middle of the park late on.
