Bolton pasty makers create their own version of classic Halloween film Poltergeist - this is the result

Pasty makers in Bolton are getting into the scary spirit with their own take on a classic Halloween film.

Carrs Pasties has taken on the iconic Spielberg horror, Poltergeist, in a bid to encourage pastry lovers to trick or treat themselves to one of their famous pies.

In the new advert, a young girl is seen walking slowly towards a bright light with an outstretched finger as her parents sleep in front of the TV.

The eerie scene is just like the 1982 rendition which sees little Carol Anne Freeling slowly approach a static TV screen, before she starts talking to supernatural beings.

The girl in the advert then utters the same phrase known by horror fans the world over... 'they're here'

But instead of revealing the dark spirits, clown doll and skeletons that haunt Carol Anne in the original Poltergeist, the camera pans to a much friendlier Carrs Pasties delivery van with a fresh batch of frozen bakes pulling up outside the family home.

Bolton born-and-bred company Carrs Pasties, which has been churning out some of the borough's favourite pasties since 1938, revealed the new campaign ahead of Halloween to show off its pasty delivery and click and collect services as regular trick or treating is off this year due to coronavirus restrictions.

Joe Carr of the family-run Carrs Pasties said: “Halloween, like a lot of things this year, will be a little different.

"Trick or treating might be off the cards, but we can still make it an occasion for families to celebrate. Our delivery and click and collect services mean we can provide the perfect food for the occasion.”
