Bolton MP Yasmin Qureshi discharged from hospital following pneumonia after testing postive for coronavirus

Bolton MP Yasmin Qureshi has left hospital after testing positive for coronavirus and battling pneumonia.

The  Bolton  South East MP was admitted to Royal Bolton Hospital on October 17 having contracted the virus two weeks earlier.

Mrs Qureshi said she started self-isolating with her family and continued to work from home until her condition worsened not long after her positive result.

In a written statement, the Bolton MP said: “A quick message to say that, thanks to the excellent care I received at Royal Bolton Hospital over the last week, I have now been discharged from hospital.

“I am so grateful to the wonderful staff who looked after me and proud of the NHS.

“I am also grateful to my staff for keeping the office running in my absence and to the House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle for allowing me to still be able to vote this week.

“I am completely overwhelmed by the kind messages I have received from everyone, they meant so much to me and my family.”
