Bolton Food and Drink Festival will be 'highlight' of town's year

This weekend’s Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2021 is set to be a ‘highlight’ of the town’s year.

The festival will feature some of Bolton’s best food and drink — and a host of activities for families, including a slice of the seaside.

Seaside Family Zone will be located next to the Town Hall, where inside a weather-proof open sided marquee, you will find a sandpit, Punch and Judy shows, face painting and much more.

Other highlights will include magic and illusions from Mark Daniels, foraging in Queens Park, a panna football cage, street performers, live music on Le Mans Crescent, and a family festival at Octagon Theatre.

Additionally, each day will feature a regional chef cookery demonstration — with a focus for younger people who will receive a goody bag with recipes and food, courtesy of headline sponsor Aldi.

The programme has led a senior councillor in Bolton to say the festival will be the ‘highlight’ of the town’s year.

Coun Anne Galloway, Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Bolton Food and Drink Festival is one of the highlights of the events calendar and offers a wide variety of activities for children.

“All summer we have been running the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, helping Bolton children learn new skills, meet new friends and learn about healthy cooking.

“This programme will culminate during the festival weekend as children will have the chance to explore, get active and try exciting new food courtesy of our regional chefs.”

The festival will run from Friday, August 27, to Monday, August 30.
