Bolton drivers warned of delays as three weeks of work set to begin on St Peters Way

Motorists in Bolton are set for up to three weeks of disruption as a slip road to a major arterial route is closed.

A public notice issued by Bolton Council advises that the northbound entrance slip road for the A666, St Peters Way at Bradford Street in the town centre will be shut to all traffic from Monday, February 22.

The closure, to allow ‘construction work’ is likely to in place for up to three weeks.

An alternative route for motorists heading north during the temporary closure has also been published by the council.

The public notice confirming the highways order, states: “The council has made an order, operative from February 22, 2021 for three weeks approximately.

“The effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on that part of St Peters Way (A666) that forms the northbound on-slip road from Bradford Street.

“This is to allow construction works to take place.

"The alternate route for traffic will be via Castle Street, Bury New Road, Folds Road, Turton Street."

The closure is likely to affect traffic heading north out of Bolton from the town centre, including traffic heading north out of Bolton from the railway station and the various retails parks on Manchester Road.

The nature of the construction work taking place was not disclosed in the notice.
