Bolton Council has provided an update on plans for a state-of-the-art health centre in Horwich.
The project was first announced in 2015 but there has been little progress on the multi-million-pound proposals since.
Now, councillors are opening the scheme up to the public.
Following a separate consultation last year, a 170-space car park has been added to the plans, which concern a currently vacant plot opposite Horwich Leisure Centre off Victoria Road.
The proposals would see the relocation of two GP practices: Pikes View Medical Centre and Bolton Community Practice, which would join up community services from the Royal Bolton Hospital Foundation Trust.
The new Health Centre would provide a range of new clinical services and treatments in a fully dementia friendly and accessible building.
It would become a hub for a number of key health departments, including mental health support, health visiting, occupational therapy, midwifery and podiatry.
The plans could also allow for some MRI scanning to take place at the centre, rather than patients having to travel to the Royal Bolton Hospital.
If the project goes forward the land would be given to the NHS via a long-lease, subject to planning and confirmation of funding for the proposed development, and the proposals would then need to be approved by councillors.
Work would not be expected to start until 2022 at the earliest.
Deputy council leader, Coun Martyn Cox, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents in Horwich to have their say on the proposed plans for a Health hub.
"It is very important that the vision for the hub is shaped by the people and communities who would use the facilities and services it could deliver.”
Dr Anne Talbot, clinical director at Bolton Community Practice, added: “This is an enormously exciting 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity to develop a facility for the Horwich community which is fit for the future needs of the population and ultimately aims to provide the bedrock for an improvement in the health and wellbeing outcomes of the people of Horwich.”
Community engagement will start on Monday, March 15 and ends, Sunday March 28. Fill in a short questionnaire online at: www.investinbolton.com/Horwichhealthhub
