Bollywood industry’s Ranveer Singh looks to expand his music label

Indian actor Ranveer Singh is planning to expand his music label IncInk into a genre-agnostic platform covering a range of things, including videos, artwork, IP’s and other product collaborations.

“Being fluid in this endeavour through genre music, video, visual art, and experiences is what we do here. Ink is a beacon for artists. I would like it to be a lighthouse on the shore. If we can inspire something new, reach somebody unreachable and touch someone so they feel included, that would be fulfilling,” Singh said.

Navzar Iranee, Singh’s close associate, said “the collective is open” on the label’s two-year anniversary.

“We wish to uncover and work in a genre-agnostic approach, so whether or not it is electronica or jazz musicians and bands or singer-songwriters or people musicians from the interiors of India – we do not wish to be confined or be boxed into simply this or that,” he said.

He added, “This can be a callout to all of the artists who’re genuine of their imaginative and prescient and craft.”

Singh’s label was launched in 2019 and has given a national stage to local hip hop artists and rappers such as Spitfire, Satan - The Rhymer, SlowCheeta, and Kaam Bhaari. Singh said the artists “have evolved into serious musical prodigies of our generation who are now being appreciated far and wide.”

IncInk has tried to be a vehicle for their artistic growth, “becoming the wind beneath the wings of these rare gems.”

“When I had decided to chase my dream of becoming an actor years ago, it wasn’t easy getting my foot in the door. I was fortunate enough to build my career through a combination of hard work, passion, and self-belief. I told myself back then that when I become relatively successful, I will try and do something for my fellow dreamers. That’s when the germ of IncInk was sown in my head,” Singh explained.

Through this initiative, he and his partner are attempting to expand their role in an underestimated industry.

On Monday, the actor also took to Twitter to disclose IncInk RAW 002, an album of Twisted instrumentals by artist Rākhis to celebrate two years of the record label.
