For their Bollywood Gala, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra present the world premiere of Shahid Parvez Khan’s Sitar Concerto. The gala brings together ancient Indian traditions with contemporary musical styles. It also features one of the world’s finest sitar players, Ustad Shahid Parvez.
Bollywood has always been about the music, and this concert features film soundtrack favourites such as A.R. Rahman’s Slumdog Millionaire. The orchestra, led by British conductor Andrew Mogrelia, will also play movements from Ravi Shankar’s Symphony No.1.
