Bolivian cops seize drugs that were to be sent to Ireland hidden in Christening presents

Bolivian cops seized cocaine that was to be sent to Ireland hidden in Christening presents.

Drug traffickers tried to send a delivery of cocaine to Ireland amongst a box holding baby clothes and decorations for a christening.

The package was stopped from getting to Ireland after an anti-narcotics dog Rous found it during a patrol at Jorge Wilstermann airport in Cochabamba, Bolivia last Wednesday.

The Bolivian Special Force to Combat Drug Trafficking looked through the package and found cocaine had been camouflaged on the back and sides of box.

Further tests showed that the package had 668 grams of cocaine.

The package also held baby shoes and clothing as well as items for a christening which was due to be sent by air travel to an Irish adress.

Drug mules are sent from South American countries sometimes including Bolivia to Ireland.

However, the impact of the pandemic on travel has meant traffickers have used the cargo network more to move drugs this year.
