Boli Bolingoli set to end disastrous Celtic spell with permanent Turkey transfer

Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli is bringing an end to his disastrous spell in Scottish football by heading to Turkey in a permanent transfer.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir after a calamitous error of judgement when he failed to quarantine following after a secret trip to Spain and played against Kilmarnock, causing two of Celtic's games to be postponed.

Bolingoli played against the likes of Manchester United and RB Leipzig in the Champions League during his spell in the Turkish capital, but Basaksehir passed on the chance to sign him permanently.

However, the Sun are reporting the 25-year-old will in fact be heading back to Turkey, after newly-promoted Altay SK agreed a fee with the Hoops for his services.

Bolingoli managed just 15 Premiership appearances in a Celtic jersey, and will undoubtedly go down as one of the most bitterly disappointing transfers the club has been involved in for many years.

It remains to be seen how new manager Ange Postecoglou will view his need for left-backs, with Greg Taylor currently the only senior player at the club in that particular position.
