Boli Bolingoli in line for Celtic transfer exit as Turkish upstarts Altay SK target left-back misfit

Celtic flop Boli Bolingoli is wanted by Turkish Super League new boys Altay SK as they search for a marquee signing.

The left-back spent the season on loan at Basaksehir last term after his calamitous error of judgement led to the Parkhead side shipping him out after he went to Spain and refused to self-isolate on his return.

Bolingoli initially resurrected his career in Istanbul, before he picked up a knee injury while playing against PSG in the Champions League and was forced to undergo surgery.

He looked set to miss the rest of the season and return to Celtic, but he returned to action for the final games of the season in Turkey as his club avoided relegation.

Basaksehir have declined to take up their option to buy the 25-year-old who will return to Celtic, where he still has two years left of his deal.

However, he's set to be handed a chance of a return to Turkey by ambitious newly-promoted club Altay, with the Izmir club celebrating promotion to the Turkish Super League for the first time in 18 years after a playoff win.

New president Ozgur Ekmekcioglu has pledged to spend for the new season in a bid to keep Altay in the top flight and wants to make Bolingoli their first high-profile signing for the new campaign.
