Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher reckons Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli was lucky to avoid handing Motherwell a penalty on Saturday
With Well trailing 2-0 thanks to goals from Jota and former Steelmen star David Turnbull, Graham Alexander's side saw a penalty claim turned away.
The Ivory Coast international looked to have handed the ball out of the reach of Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen.
Van Veen would later claim that even Bolingoli told him it was a spot-kick, but ref Chris Fordyce was unmoved by the Steelmen's claim.
And Gallagher, who spent 15 years as a top flight whistler in England, speaking on Sky Sports ' Ref Watch, put the snub down to positioning.
While he agreed with Motherwell boss Graham Alexander that his side should have received a penalty, he let Fordyce off with the error.
He said: "I think it's hand ball by the player, Bolingoli.
"I think in fairness to the referee, if you see where Van Veen is, he completely obscures the referee's view.
"So, he is behind Van Veen, and he doesn't see it, so he can't give it."
